Urology is a medical field that specializes in evaluation and treatment of diseases of the urinary tract. This includes the kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra in men and women, as well as the penis and prostate in men.

The American Urological Association recommends prostate cancer screening with a digital rectal exam (DRE) and PSA testing in asymptomatic healthy men with a greater than 10 year life expectancy between the ages of 55 and 70. If you have a family history of prostate cancer or are African American, screening should begin earlier and you should have a baseline PSA test at 40 years of age.
